farewell the king of pop

Whether it was singing into our hairbrushes, moon walking at a disco, dancing in front of video hits or wearing one jeweled glove as a fashion statement, the late Michael Jackson has influenced and inspired generations with his artistry.

Mr Jackson, your music thrilled us.

stroll in the midnight garden

We just had to show you this gorgeous onyx and silver necklace that has just come out of the workshop. It's almost 6ft long! We're calling it the Midnight Garden necklace. Can't wait to see what those clever artisans create next!

madness in our method

It's a bit of a mad house down here at the RB workshop this morning. Jen's in full creative swing, designing the new handcrafted jewellery collection for Summer from materials she gathered in the Golden Triangle. There's boxes of beads and gems everywhere. It looks like we've looted Aladdin's Cave! We're doing a model shoot in the next couple of weeks and I'll post up some snaps to give you a sneak peek!

it was all as ephemeral as a rainbow...

Just looked out the window and caught the last moments of this glimmering rainbow, which may prove a muse for the rest of the day!

In Greek mythology, the rainbow was considered to be a path made by a messenger between Earth and Heaven. For the Chinese the rainbow was a slit in the sky sealed by Goddess Nüwa using stones of five different colours. A Hindu legend is that the rainbow is the bow of Kama, the God of love. And of course, the Irish leprechaun's secret hiding place for his pot of gold is said to be at the end of the rainbow. But our fav is from Mesopotamia where the rainbow is the "jewelled necklace of the Great Mother Ishtar" that she lifts into the sky.

For a little more rainbow lovin' check out this from Israel Kamakawiwo'ole.
Magic.

doing it for the kids

We've always known the power of accessorising but New York designer Sheena Matheiken has taken this to the extreme, wearing only ONE dress for an entire year. To be fair, she does has seven copies of the same dress!

Sheena began this as an exercise in sustainable fashion and to raise funds for the Akanksha Foundation, a grassroots movement that is revolutionizing education in India.

Every day she reinvents the dress with layers, accessories and all kinds of accouterments, the majority of which will be vintage, hand-made, or hand-me-down goodies.

We love how she's combining her passions, looks fabulous and is creating a unique and worthwhile outcome. Go girl!

Keep track of her each day at www.theuniformproject.com.

how we began

travelling + italy + fated meeting + sense of adventure = riley burnett

Sometimes things fall into place in unexpected ways and lead you off in directions uncharted. It's that whole sliding doors thing. Had Jennie and Jason not taken a year to travel around Europe, had they not been overheard by a stranger who offered them his apartment in Pisa, and had Jennie's eye not been caught by gorgeous Italian beads and her imagination sparked by Ligurian sunsets, then Riley Burnett...well, you know.

How did your dream start?
