Healing Stones - popular beliefs

Crystals and gemstones have been celebrated by cultures all over the world for thousands of years, as symbols of prestige, wealth and love. They were believed to have magical healing powers for all sorts of ailments, and used as protection against danger and evil.
Although there is no scientific evidence to support the healing powers of crystals and gemstones, their continued use for healing across the world indicates there is some success in this alternative therapy. It is believed that positive vibrations from stones and crystals can harmonise disruptions in the flow of energy. Another theory is that they can activate positive thinking, and therefore bring on a positive outcome. Either way, wearing jewellery adorned with beautiful stones make us feel good! Here are some of the healing properties of stones used in Riley Burnett's collections.

Agate: soothing, nurturing and calming stone, used as a cure for insomnia.
Amethyst: strong healing and cleansing powers, used to enhance psychic ability. Believed to reduce stress and anxiety.
Chrysoprase: enhances light heartedness and joy. Thought to be helpful in childbirth.
Turquoise: powerful healing and protecting stone. Believed to help combat depression.
Onyx: releases old relationships and keeps away general negativity.
